Google Experimenting with Filters

Twitter user Carrie Hill posted this screenshot from a Google search showing a new “filters” feature that was quickly replicated by a few other users.

 

Is this an early iteration of Google’s upcoming sub-topics feature, or something else? I’ve not been able to replicate this feature yet but it seems quite similar to how the filter/drill-down feature in Google Image search works.
